About

Hi, my name is Sophia and I have been pursuing my doctorate at the Chair of Risk Management and Insurance at the University of Hamburg since 2021. In my dissertation, I am investigating the effects of different flood insurance systems on economic recovery after flood disasters and their influence on capital markets. During my studies, I was able to acquire in-depth knowledge in the field of econometrics and data analysis. International research stays at St. John's University in New York and participation in international conferences provided me with valuable feedback on my empirical methods and expanded my network in scientific exchange. In addition, I was able to gain practical experience in regulatory reporting at Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB), which gave me a deep insight into the regulatory requirements and processes in the banking sector. I am also a CFA candidate and have already successfully completed Level 1 in order to further deepen my knowledge of capital markets.
